To mark the release of The Documentary Photography Special V, Huck presents a group exhibition celebrating the renegades reinventing the rules.

Photography has the power to change how we see the world. But it’s at its best when it keeps moving forward and isn’t imprisoned by dos and don’ts. Enter a new generation of risk-taker: photographers who borrow from other realms, identifying as artists when ‘documentarian’ no longer fits the bill. Storytellers who blend fiction and fact in search of a deeper truth. And ordinary people who’ve lived extraordinary lives by stepping over the line.

The Documentary Photography Special V is dedicated to these rule-breakers – photographers like Guy Martin and Laura El-Tantawy whose conceptual approaches are pushing boundaries and heralding a new dawn. Join us on November 7 at 71a London as Guy and Laura discuss the future of documentary photography, and again on November 9 for the opening of Rule-Breakers: The Exhibition.
