Andy Finch and an Assado
An ‘Assado’ is an important social event in Argentina. Given any excuse, Argentineans will gather together to devour enormous cuts of beef cooked over an open fire accompanied by succulent chorizos, blood sausages and rarely a vegetable in sight - it’s a carnivore’s heaven. And recent snow storm in Bariloche provided such an excuse for a get together.
The snow storm at Cerro Catedral completely submerged one of the resort’s cabins, taking literally days to tunnel to it. The high walls of snow left around the cabin after it was dug out gave the perfect kicker and landing. This inspired riders from South America Snow Sessions (SASS) to session this epic hut jump.
A huge piece of lamb roasted slowly on a spit over an open fire while snowboarding legend Andy Finch and skiers Maricillo Cambilla and Garret Russell flew over head. The riders performed front and back flips inches away from the huts tin roof as others carefully tended to the Assado beneath them.

Bright blue skies filled with smoke, adding an extra sense of illusion to the acrobatic fantasy in the air above. But such a joy was short lived, resort staff soon closed the jump as it was deemed too dangerous, leaving the adrenaline-pumped riders to abandon the air in favor of the banquet...
