A daily dip into the HUCK back catalogue.
We delve into the HUCK archives to revisit our feature on shaper Antonio Leopoldo and other characters who populate the surf town of Perniche in Portugal.
Says Leopoldo: "People didn’t understand [the first surfers in Peniche] because of their long hair and the [grungy] clothes… They would travel down in vans and cars and stay in Supertubos or Baleal all winter. [...] When I was a kid we made polystyrene boards and tried to catch waves in the white water. I was always in love with the sea.”
