Barry McGee ‘The Spectacle of Everyday’
Twist unleashes his anarchic installation in Lyon.
Barry Mcgee's contribution to the Biennale de Lyon contemporary art exhibition 2009 is now open, running from September 16 - January 3.
The Spectacle of Everyday considers the relationship between art, artists and people in a society where everything is 'spectacular' and shackled to consumption, the market, superficiality and institutions. The exhibition includes over seventy artists across four venues in the city.
Barry McGee, under his pseudonym 'Twist', has transgressed sculpture, paint and graffiti with tagged vans balancing on their bumpers, patterned walls, hyper-real portraits and spray-painting mannequins in the style of Mark Jenkins.
