Mike Basich road trip
Alt-snowboarder unveils the ultimate low impact snowboard expedition.
Mike Basich has unveiled his latest venture of driving to Alaska in a specially converted, eco-friendly truck.
Mike has converted his 5.9 litre diesel truck to run on 'grease' i.e. waste cooking oil and also set up a rig on the back to allow him to sleep in it too.
He is planning to leave his Sierra Nevada home for Alaska on March 25 in the hope that the trip will inspire others to change the way they travel to the mountains.
Says Basich: "I have been dreaming up this rig for a while and with selling my van to finish my film Open Space, I felt it was time to get my welder back out."
To make this dream happen, Mike has teamed up with Go Pro cameras and Clif Bar and will be documenting everything from building the rig to his lines at the King of the Hill contest in Thompson Pass, AK on April 3.
