At 9.00am Beijing time, on 20th August, good old Bicycle Motocross finally gets ordained into the world of Gold medals, Drug-tests and nationalistic showboating!
Coming a long way from it's humble SoCal beginnings in the 1970s, BMX has been accepted into the Olympic fold. And not a moment to soon. It comes as a breath of fresh air for those who have been scratching their heads in confusion at the sight of traditional velodrome cycling events such as Keirin and Team Pursuit.
Keep an eye out for British World Champion Shanaze Reade. This 19 year old girl has a habit of kicking everyone's arse, male and female alike...
