The 6star TTR snowboard competition celebrates its 10th birthday in Laax, Switzerland.
With balloons, banners and cakes a plenty, Burton are celebrating the European Open reaching double figures in style. The halfpipe and slopestyle competition is running until 17th January and will bear witness to some truly awesome snowboard theatrics. The forecast is nothing but sun and with a superpark and halfpipe so well maintained and sharp, they could have been cut by a laser.
Having just competed in the BEO Juniors, groms walk around the brand new Rocks resort in the centre of Laax dressed in their fluro-outerwear with their parents lugging their 3/4 sized snowboards behind them. Obviously, time invested now will more than pay off when their beloved offspring are raking home cash in ten years time.
However, the grown up action most are waiting for lies in the slopestyle and half pipe events with pre-qualification. Riders confirmed for the finals include the likes of Nicolas Muller, Kevin Pearce, Mathieu Crepel, Danny Davis and never one to miss out on those all important TTR points, the ginger global phenomenon himself, Shaun White! As for the females, Cheryl Maas, Hannah Teter, Jamie Anderson, Marie France Roy and Kjersti Buaas all look set to put in an appearance.
