‘Down With The Ship’ film
Documentary charting journey from surf injury to big wave triumph in just five months.
Big wave surfer Derek Dunfee has just released this short documentary called Down With The Ship.
The film charts his five month recovery from a severe leg injury to surfing a wave that would win him the Monster Paddle Award at the Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards in 2009.
In June 2008, Dunfee broke his leg while surfing Cloudbreak off Tavarua, Fiji that required surgery to fit eight screws and a titanium plate.
However, by November 2008 he was surfing the legendary break of Mavericks, Northern California.
Derek's impressive story is accompanied by plenty of big wave paddle action and sweet animations by Taylor Dunfee.
