Etnies ‘Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree’ project

Etnies have just launched a new eco project called Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree.

The rather self-explanatory campaign focuses around their new Jameson 2 Eco shoe, with a tree being planted in a Costa Rican rainforest for every one sold.

Etnies have estimated that this will result in at least 35,000 extra trees growing on a Maleku tribal reserve in northern Costa Rica by environmental NGO La Reserva Forest Foundation.

The United Nations has sanctioned this land as a biological corridor to be restored as part of 2011 being the official global Year of the Forest.

The shoe itself is made partly from recycled bike tyres and rubber gloves for the outsole and PET bottles for the shoe laces.

This may not be revolutionary but it's a great place to start if you are looking for a new pair of summer kicks.
