Etnies ‘Pura Vida’ part two
Web series following the creation of the world's first skate shoe-funded rainforest.
Etnies have just released the second video in their web series, Pura Vida, documenting their Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree project.
The video follows Etnies team surfers CJ Kanuha, Chris Del Moro and Benji Weatherly, and skaters Kyle Leeper and Ryan Sheckler as they travel to Costa Rica for the project.
The rather self-explanatory initiative focuses around their new Jameson 2 Eco shoe, with a tree being planted in a Costa Rican rainforest for every one sold.
Etnies have estimated that this will result in at least 35,000 extra trees growing on a Maleku tribal reserve in northern Costa Rica by environmental NGO La Reserva Forest Foundation.
The United Nations has sanctioned this land as a biological corridor to be restored as part of 2011 being the official global Year of the Forest.
