SAS fights for Pease Bay
New petition launched for year round UV protection for Pease Bay surfers.
Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) are calling on the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) to treat sewage with UV lighting all year-round at Pease Bay, Scotland.
Pease Bay is one of Scotland's most popular surfing breaks but between September 15 – June 1, Scottish Water currently switches off it's UV lighting treatment for sewage in the area, puttings surfers and other recreational water users at risk of infection from this raw, untreated sewage.
It's especially a problem for surfers as Pease bay produces it's best waves throughout autumn and winter.
Surfers Against Sewage are inviting everyone to sign their petition to demonstrate to SEPA that Pease Bay is well used outside the bathing season and that people are being harmed by Scottish Water's actions.
