Finisterre Bowmont collection
Winter warmers made from a very special wool.
Ethical clothing company Finisterre have just released their first collection of Bowmont wool beanies and scarves.
The unisex ribbed beanies and scarves are made from Bowmont sheep, an ultra-rare breed of sheep reared exclusively for Finisterre by farmer Lesley Prior in some remote Devonshire fields.
The aim of this project was to develop a ethically farmed and locally sourced wool that was a soft as Merino.
Says Finisterre: "The pinnacle of our ambition was to develop a legitimate UK fine fibre supply chain that would take British wool to the masses. With the fire lit, it took two years of stoking (detective-like research) to eventually lead us to Lesley Prior, the guardian of the last twenty eight Bowmont sheep on the planet. A further four years of hard work and passion followed until finally we find ourselves at the project's coming of age: our first 100% British Bowmont wool garments."
