Forty foot waves at Waimea
Huge swell on the North Shore is still charging.
The Eddie Aikau Invitational could begin any day as massive 25-40 foot waves hit Waimea Bay.
Although the organisers are waiting for the right conditions to run the big wave competition, many famous surfers have already taken to the giants building on the North Shore over the past few days.
Tom Carroll was one such surfer who also became the first casualty snapping his ankle in the huge conditions and sacrificing his place in the competition.
Locals are saying the swell is the biggest it has been in many years. There is going to be a lot of adrenaline pumping in Hawaii over the next few days.
