Artistic movement Driftwood Collective have just released this short DIY video, From Wrecked Bed Frame into Low-Cost Shaping Racks!.
The aim was to build a new surfboard shaping rack without spending any money.
In the end, they had to spend a whopping seven euros 80 cents on screws but they still struck a blow to 'the man'.
Such reclamation fits in with the DIY manifesto of this creative community.
Says Driftwood Collective: "What the Driftwood Collective will grow to be is still a mystery to us. [...] Surfers of dubious skill, who have decided to make something out of the idle hours languishing in between swells. Ultimately, the Driftwood Collective aims to contribute to the expression of an alternative surf culture still very incipient in Europe. A culture not necessarily set against the mainstream but definitely endeavored [sic] to the pursuit of beauty."
In a time of turmoil, such simple things are the answer...
