Gravis skate shoes: Part two

Second part of our review of the new skate shoes from Gravis.

#2 Dylan Lo

Next was the Dylan Lo, which could be the most anticipated, hyped and controversial pro shoe in skateboarding history. Most of us had a quick glimpse of this one during Dylan's part in Mind Field. But many, like myself, didn't imagine it was his pro model he was skating in. I just thought he was a bit of a lunatic who didn't mind skating in dress shoes. But as it turns out, Dylan Reider's first shoe is a dress shoe and it's fully skateable.
Gravis skate shoes- Dylan Lo

Honestly, holding these slip-ons in my hands, I couldn't imagine anyone skating in them, based solely on how much they resembled items reserved for weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, Dance-offs and that type of thing. However, I shit you not, these things are comfy as hell. It's deceiving, really, but 100% true. When I put these on, it felt like I were wearing reinforced slippers. My next, task was to see exactly how they skated. They were grippy and featured and internal cushioning that was complimented by the cozy premium leather upper (with reinforced ollie and toe area for extrasturdiness). The shoe felt great and didn't need much breaking in for me to feel my board. My only issue was getting used to looking down as such a design. I couldn't banish the notion that I was ruining my Sunday shoes by skating in them.

  • Those shoes are ridiculous! Less skateboarding, more ballroom dancing

  • I think the proof would have to be in the skating with these. But then, you'd have to buy them to try it out. Bit of a chicken and the egg thing, and I doubt they would look that good with some baggy carhartts...

  • Man, who cares if these shoes are wack! Dylan rides so pretty sick and original lines. He's alright with me. /watch his part in Mind Field if you don't believe me
