Jamie Anderson and Shaun White win the Burton European Open Slopestyle Finals
Jamie Anderson and Shaun White dominated the Burton European Open Slopestyle Finals yesterday.
After a fine weather day, and even finer riding, the Americans each picked up a tidy sum of $10,000 for their efforts.
Jamie pulled out a super smooth run, throwing down her signature ally-oop handplant to fakie on the quarter amongst a shedload of trickery.
“It’s my first time at the Burton European Open and it rocks,” she said. “It was a super fun contest and I’m really stoked to win, especially because there are so many good riders here like Cheryl Maas and Torah Bright who are riding on a super high level. I can’t wait to put the prize money towards a new house, as soon as I figure out where I want to live.”
Shaun, meanwhile, put in yet another unbeatable performance with a hyper technical run that ended with a Cab 1080 melon.
“It’s rad to be in Europe because I don’t get over here that often,” he said. “The slopestyle course here was really challenging and so was the weather earlier in the week. When I first started riding the course here, I didn’t really like any of the runs I was putting together. But today, the sun came out and I was feeling it. I thought about what I wanted my ideal run to be, and then I went for it in the finals. It’s a great feeling to win and I’m happy with the results.”
And after claiming a close 2nd in the women's competition, Britain's Jenny Jones has cruised into the world No. 1 spot on the Swatch TTR ranking list.
A good day for both sides of the Atlantic, we feel.
