Jon Lewis ‘Portraits From The Edge’
Founder of Greenpeace Australia puts a face to climate change.
Jon Lewis's photo reportage Portraits from the edge Kiribati - Putting a Face to Climate Change, will be exhibited at the UTS Building, Sydney on September 16.
The images document the people of Kiribati, a small republic in the equatorial Pacific consisting of about 33 coral atolls, who are facing homelessness as their land succumbs to the rising sea levels of climate change.
It is estimated that in just 40 years time, the entire population of Kiribati must migrate and so potentially lose their identity and culture. However, there are currently no policies to re-home them.
Lewis, also the founder of Greenpeace Australia, will host a forum on climate change in the Pacific at the exhibition opening.
