DIY London Seen
Outsider art exhibition comes to Covent Garden, London.
DIY London Seen will run in Covent Garden from August 17 - September 5. The exhibition will feature artists including Ivory Serra, Chrissie Abbott, Cheryl Dunn, Ricky Adam and Sam Ashley, and takes place in the Market Building.
The show is part of Covent Garden's Art Tank movement, that aims to encourage diverse forms of art in London's West End.
It's curated by Bakul Patki and Lee Johnson of Watch This Space, champions 'outsider art' - art that's not defined by the market but inspired by elements of youth culture like skateboarding, drugs, adventure and freedom.
So it may not be as authentic as rocking up to Alleged in the 90s (à la Beautiful Losers) but the exhibition proves that the spirit and philosophy of that movement lives on, constantly reinvented by new minds, ideas and a passion for creativity.
