Rob Machado ‘The Drifter’
In the summer of 2008, Rob Machado disappeared off to Indonesia to surf some of the Indian Ocean's best waves and captured these travels in a movie.
The Drifter recently won best film at the Bali Film Festival and it kicks off its US premiere tour in San Diego on November 4. You can check all the details on the website.
According to the promo material, it's "a journey that would take him way beyond his comfort zone, to the point where he could finally be alone with his thoughts, his desires and the empty perfection of an unnamed Indian Ocean reef. What did he discover? You never stop dreaming. Even when they come true."
Which all sounds very lovely indeed. Perhaps it will also explain how that trademark hair isn't a complete nightmare when surfing too. Maybe he uses a scrunchy?
