HUCK meets Bob Meistrell
So we're told to meet Bob and have a photo taken. Expecting to discuss ad rates and eco wetsuits a second earlier, we find ourselves hugging an older man. The older man turns out to be the legendary Bob Meistrell, co-founder (with brother Bill) of Body Glove and pioneering waterman. It was short, sweet and an unexpected great pleasure.
Whilst Bob was there helping out the European distributors, he must have also been pretty excited about this new wetsuit to add to the original he created more than 50 years ago.
Body Glove's new ECO Fullsuit is claiming to be the first environmentally-friendly wetsuit, using rubber and flex materials that are non-petroleum based. The graphics on the suit are printed with organic water ink, and even the zipper on the exterior pocket is recycled plastic.
A nominee for the EcoDesign Award at ISPO '08, it will surely provide a conscience dilemma for new suit buyers come summer. Nice work Bob!
