Nissan Outdoor Games returns

Some of the world's top extreme sports riders are set to descend on the mountain resort of Chamonix from 14th – 21st February 2009 to take part in the second Nissan Outdoor Games film and photography competition.

Five teams have seven days to shoot and edit a five minute film and take 20 photographs, uniting footage of BASE jumping, paragliding, mountaineering, skiing and snowboarding.

Creativity-wise, anything goes: the bolder the better. Elected by a jury comprised of professional movie makers, photographers and sports personalities the best film will be judged on its photography, screenplay and performance of the riders.

The games will host over sixty athletes, professional photographers, cameramen and film production companies from all over Europe and North America to take part in the competition, with the stunning Mont Blanc mountain range as the backdrop.

Ride the Planets 2008 winning entry

Last year’s winning team, Ride the Planets is entering again, but with a twist. The contest, explained on the Julbo website represents a unique opportunity for movie fans and creative minds to plan out the storyboard for Ride the Planets 2009 film. With the winner having their dream realised when their sketched out stunts are performed by world-class riders.

Ride the Planets will be up against four other teams including Soulflyers, who will participate with athletes such as French acrobatic paragliding champion and speed riding specialist, Antoine Montant and Thomas Diet the rising star of freestyle backcountry skiing.

Throughout the event spectators will just have to tip their heads skywards to witness the flying stunts of the paragliders, speedriders and BASE-jumpers set against the fabulous scenery of Chamonix. The “Outdoor Games’ Village” in the centre of town will be the place to be, with a climbing wall, music and giant film screens.
