Quiksilver ‘Xplosive’ boardshorts

Quiksilver have just released an innovative new take on the boardshort, the Xplosive.

The boardies feature an ergonomic inner compression-taped layer that reinforces and aids the muscle movement used for surfing, much like the technology used for running, swimming and the like.

According to Quiksilver, this works "like a slingshot, aligning muscles so they are perfectly placed for the twisting and driving motions of bottom and top turns. The banding is designed to centralise your core over the sweet spot of your surfboard."

Whether or not they will make you surf like golden boy Kelly Slater remains to be seen, but all that science surely can't hurt?
