Support a surf school in Rio de Janeiro.

Save the Favela Surf Club

The Favela Surf Club in Morro do Cantagalo, Rio de Janeiro is appealing for funds to help it continue its work.

The club was the focus of the 2009 documentary Rio Breaks and helps get kids from the favelas out surfing, offering coaching and lessons in fixing and shaping surfboards.

The club currently survives on a very small budget and needs donations to continue its work.

Here's an idea of the sort of costs it needs to cover:

– Five surfboard leashes: £10
– Board shaping materials: £50
– A brand new surfboard: £300
