Sebastien Tellier produces ‘Divine’ Eurovision entry
Eurovision is usually one night of the year where we get to guffaw at the hapless European musical landscape, while pretending not to care that our recent entries have all been shockingly bad.
So when the French announce that their entry this year is none other than the wonderfully bonkers Sebastien Tellier suddenly you can guffaw no more. The track in question, the aptly titled ‘Divine‘, is a strangely hypnotic synthesised europop gem produced by Guy-Manuel from Daft Punk, which quite frankly puts our pitiful effort from plucky reality TV loser Andy Abraham to shame.
Considering the predictable way the Eurovision voting always goes this song will probably end up somewhere at the bottom of the pile on the night, however given Sebastian’s tendancy to perform “downing bottles of whiskey in one, doing press-ups on stage and sticking cigarettes up his nose” it should be worth tuning in for that spectacle alone. Allez La France!
