Legendary surfer Shaun Tomson has recently released an iPhone app called Surf Creatures.
The app is aimed at teaching kids about different ocean wildlife and has been written but the former world champion based on his experiences with them while out in the ocean.
Says Tomson: "I have an 18-month old son and his birth inspired me to write something about the ocean I love. [...] I wanted to create stories that would entertain and educate.[...] As surfers, we exist in another world. There's a whole ecosystem underneath us that we can bring to a wider audience."
Tomson is hosting a book reading at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington DC on February 19.
He is also set to release a new edition to his much-celebrated 2006 book Surfer's Code - 12 Simple Lessons for Riding Through Life in May.
