Shell’s green-washout
On 27 April, the oil producer Shell’s most blatant piece of corporate greenwash will finally come to an end. For the past two years, the company has been official sponsor to Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at London’s Natural History Museum.
Shell’s sponsorship has been dumped thanks to campaigning from the pressure group Art Not Oil, part of an anti-climate change movement called Rising Tide. Mainstream environmental organisations such as Friends of the Earth were also in on the lobbying.
Hopefully, the gallery will put a little more thought into their future sponsors.
