Skateistan ‘Pul’ magazine
Collaborative magazine created out of Afghanistan skate NGO.
Afghanistan skate school Skateistan has just released a magazine, Pul.
The 30-page art and skate mag was put together by over 300 students in a series of creative arts workshops at Skateistan, funded by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
It features skate photos, drawings, poems, paintings and stories, all aiming to send a message of hope for the future.
Pul means 'bridge' in Dari, representing the aim of the magazine to unite kids in Kabul with kids in other provinces. As a means to this, there will be versions printed in three different languages: English, Dari and Pashto.
Says Skateistan: "One of the main goals of Skateistan is to give our students new platforms for self-expression, and the chance to show the world alternate perspectives to the standard image of Afghanistan abroad."
