Steph Gilmore wins fourth ASP World Tour
Talented true blue makes history in women's surfing.
Steph Gilmore broke two world records to become the Women's ASP World Tour champion for the fourth time in Puerto Rico today.
Not only is the 22-year-old Australian the only woman to have won the World Tour four times consecutively but she is also the only surfer (male or female) to have a perfect record in the professional surfing world, winning every event since her rookie season - an achievement not even Kelly Slater can compete with.
Says Steph: “This title means a lot to me. The girls on tour this year have been the best they’ve ever been and I’ve been pushed in every one of my heats. The younger girls especially have a whole new approach and they’re gaining in confidence in every surf. The future for the sport is going to be excited and I can’t wait for it. But for now, I’m going to celebrate my win. Thanks to everyone for all the support.”
The Rip Curl Pro Search continues in Puerto Rico where it is extremely likely Kelly Slater will become the first surfer in history to win 10 world titles.
