Swatch O’Neill Big Mountain Pro returns
The ultimate freeride competition descends on the Austrian Alps.
Kicking off on 3rd February at St Anton in the Arlberg range, the Swatch O'Neill Big Mountain Pro will see 12 of the best freeride snowboarders and skiers search for the most challenging backcountry terrain that the mountains can offer.
"I love the more exploratory side to The Big Mountain Pro this year, it's more authentic."
Mitch Toelderer
With no fixed location, competitors will be free to find the best conditions where ever they may be. And this year, the element of adventure is pushed to the next level this year with the riders set to hike the remote backcountry and camp in mountain huts.
The riders confirmed for this awesome adventure include Jeremy Jones, Stephan Gimpl, Eric Themel and Mitch Toelderer.
"I love the more exploratory side to The Big Mountain Pro this year," says Mitch Toelderer. "Hiking and staying in huts creates a completely different experience within the mountains. It's more authentic - especially for this competition. It gives you much more time to get connected with the snow and the face and get a feeling for it. It's so much quieter and more relaxed to hike - it's what we would do at home with friends."
All the riders will head to Saalbach-Hinterglemm on 10th February for the unique judging session where they all judge each other's runs. An overall winner will be crowned, along with separate winners for skiing and snowboarding, with a total prize fund of $60,000 on offer.
