‘By The Sword’ collection

By The Sword, a new skate company by Mike Vallely and artist Jason Filipow, have just dropped their first collection.

This initial selection of products features a limited-edition deck with silkscreened graphics, t-shirts and screenprints, all featuring the slogan 'DIY or Die' and some hangover-unfriendly fluorescent pink and yellow.

According the Mike V, By The Sword aims to "pay homage to our humble, DIY heritage, and celebrate the all-encompassing, creative spirit of skateboarding".

Anyone else think there's something of the Never Mind The Bollocks about it?

Check out our extended interview with Mike Vallely in our web exclusives section.

  • Ed- Thanks for the blurb and the support. As for the 'Nevermind the Bullocks' reference, that's definitely no stretch of the imagination. As the designer responsible for the above graphics, I'll be the first to acknowledge and embrace the profound influence of Jamie Reed, Malcom McLaren and Vivienne Westwood upon music and pop culture.

  • Hey Jason, thanks for your feedback. Always good to hear about these things. They are indeed hugely influential characters.
