Californian artist Tahiti Pehrson has created a series of decks for Familia inspired by the destruction of the world's ecosystems.

The three designs have been made exclusively for Familia by Tahiti who has also designed boards for Adrenalin, Toy Machine and Blood Wizard as well as cover art for musician Devendra Banhart and tees for Joanna Newsom.

Says Tahiti: "The destruction of the world's ecosystems is tearing at the very fabric that keeps our world together and alive. People are really reticent to this fact. There is a misconception that we can destroy nature and species without direct repercussion... Most people may not care about bees in their everyday life. But without bee’s we have no pollination. Without pollination we have no agriculture, no economy and this effects the everyday life and the entire world... Humanity has defeated great odds when it has risen to the occasion and we need to do that now."

  • What are these boards made from? Unless it is from recycled or recyclable materials then I am afraid this is just contributing to the problem...

  • Hey George, So far there is not a way to recycle boards into other boards.I cut my old ones up, make Zip Zingers, Jewlrey, carvings etc.
    Satori is recycling Wheels http://satoriwheels.org/relife......html
So it's about getting the word out there and into skateboarding. If companies understand that we care about these things then they will respond and move towards better responsibility.
    Thanks, Tahiti
