‘The Art of Rap’ trailer

Ice T has just released a trailer to his new documentary film The Art of Rap.

The iconic rapper aims to explore the history of rap music as an art form, beyond the usual lazy stereotypes associated with the musical genre.

Along the way, he meets a whole host of legendary characters including Chuck D, Kool Keith and Big Daddy Kane.

Says Ice T: "I really felt that I had to do this music, because rap music saved my life. [...] It's about the craft, what it takes to write and rap and what goes on inside the head of the masters."

The Art of Rap is set for release in Autumn 2011.
