Thrasher - Insane Terrain
This thick coffee-table journal offers retrospective of skate culture, as chronicled in the pages of the seminal skateboard mag.
Harking back to the days when kids rode barefoot on condemned floorboards with clay rollerskate wheels nailed onto them, Insane Terrain takes you on a pictorial journey from the sports’ humble beginnings accompanied with a smattering of nostalgic editorial.
Throughout the book, present-day legends emerge rocking juvenile smiles along with the laughable fashions of the day. And there are some real shockers too; including a young Tony Hawk posing with flick knives in a manner that would give his corporate sponsors a heart attack.

What is also striking is how much more adventurous and slightly madcap skateboarding seemed before the age of the X Games and ESPN. This demonstrated by such as Mark Gonzales and his Roto-board, Scotty B dropping in on a playground slide and one skater taking on a slalom course with his board on fire! Pure stupid-ness, but awesome all the same.
