Rip Curl are currently hosting a video series called Tip 2 Tip following a six month surf trip around the entire Indonesian archipelago.
The series is screening a new chapter every week for the next two months that gives a warts-and-all account of life on this aquatic expedition.
The latest episode called Adversity features surfer Timmy Turner who suffered a staphylococcal infection on a tropical surf trip in 2005 which resulted in him having three quarters of his skull removed.
It follows him as he risks a relapse to return to a break he first surfed a decade ago "because the waves are so perfect".
