Vans Triple Crown hits jackpot
The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing has made history by giving the prestigious Hawaiian surf series a $1,000,000USD prize purse.
The Triple Crown - Triple Threat kicks off on November 12 at the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa on Oahu's North Shore. It is the first stop on stop on the ASP Dream Tour.
It continues at the O'Neill World Cup of Surfing on November 24 and has its final battle for the 2009 ASP world title at the Billabong Pipeline Masters, from December 8 - 20.
The final showdown will be between Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning, and it's possible that one surfer could walk away with a record $230,000USD!
Not a bad day at the office and it seems to buck the trend of austerity we've all been told to expect!
