New wave gloom is very 2008, so look out, it could be this band’s year.

Along with the return of Portishead and My Bloody Valentine it seems gloom is very much back in vogue. Have these bands have been lurking around, waiting for a global recession and world food crisis to make their comebacks? Even Lily Allen has lost the sunny optimism from her debut album in the two new offerings she’s posted on her Myspace.

So it’s no wonder that M83 are getting a lot of love on Hype Machine at the moment - and after two albums they look like they might break through to a larger audience with their new album “Saturdays = Youth“.

If you like what you hear, the band have upcoming tour dates in Europe and the States over the next couple of months.

I’d also like to point out, like the both previous videos I’ve posted, this video features a cameo appearance from a cat (even if this one is from beyond the grave…).
