Without getting all clever with things like titles, this book is quite simply, a manual for surfing. The advanced nature assumes that the reader possesses some basic skills and can at least stand up on a board however amateurs may also learn a thing or two.
A range of contributors helped to make this book the informative read that it is. Legends such as – Kelly Slater, Tom Curren and Taj Burrow add their own personal widom into the mix, helping you perfect your skills riding the waves. You’ll be tube riding and tail sliding in no time.
Detailed information on the equipment, the waves, training, tricks and much more are included. It also contains some amazing photography of big waves being ripped by top surfers to illustrate the manoeuvres – simply awesome!
Steve Pezman’s foreword contains a quote from surfing pioneer Dave Rochlin, “It’s simple. The ocean is the most wondrous thing on our planet, and the breaking wave is the single most exciting thing happening in the ocean.” If you feel the same way and want to learn more about surfing so you can become a pro then you could do a lot worse than picking up a copy. Maybe the publishers could waterproof the next edition though.
