The consensus on a band that’s doing genuinely original stuff (a tweaked hardcore/black-jazz/sick-funk crossover in the Vile Imbeciles’ case) is often that it’s good that they are. That’s it.
These Brightonians want more, so they’ve left smoother paths into this album than they did on their mental debut. Less abstract, more logical, but still intelligent and challenging.
Onwards, bizarre experiment.
