The Edge of Love (2008)
Don’t think of this as a Keira Knightley film. Because it’s not. Or a Sienna Miller film. Because it’s not that either.
Think of it as former avant-garde legend John Maybury’s take on the myth of bohemia, as examined through the wartime life of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.
With a finely honed sense of fin-de-siècle decadence, Maybury examines Thomas’s scabrous life with his two lovers (one of whom was married), holed up in a tiny Welsh village.
Featuring gorgeous photography layered with memory and refraction, The Edge of Love represents its female leads’ best work.
